Madalena

Madalena is the Portuguese form of Magdalene, derived from the Hebrew place name Migdal, meaning tower, referring to the town of Magdala on the Sea of Galilee. The name became widely used throughout the Christian world through Mary Magdalene, the New Testament figure who was a follower of Jesus and the first to witness his resurrection. Its spread across Europe produced numerous regional variants, including Magdalena, Madeleine, Madeline, and Malin.
