Malena

Malena is a Scandinavian and Spanish contracted form of Magdalena, itself derived from the Hebrew place name Migdal, meaning tower, referring to the ancient town of Magdala on the Sea of Galilee. The name gained widespread recognition through Mary Magdalene, the biblical figure prominent in the New Testament, whose association with the place gave rise to the given name Magdalena across much of Europe.
