Margrith

Margrith is a German-Swiss dialectal form of Margaret, ultimately derived from the ancient Greek margaritēs, meaning pearl. The name spread widely through medieval Europe largely through the veneration of Saint Margaret of Antioch, a popular martyr of early Christianity. Margrith is most common in the German-speaking cantons of Switzerland, representing a regional phonetic development of the standard German Margarete.
