Marijke

Marijke is a Dutch diminutive of Maria, itself the Latin and Greek form of the Hebrew name Miryam, whose meaning is debated but often interpreted as "sea of bitterness," "beloved," or "rebellion." The name gained widespread use across the Christian world through veneration of the Virgin Mary, and its Dutch diminutive form became a beloved everyday name in the Netherlands and Flanders.
