Martine

Martine is the French and Dutch feminine form of Martin, which derives from the Latin name Martinus, itself formed from Martus, a variant of Mars, the Roman god of war. The name thus carries the underlying sense of belonging to Mars or warlike. Saint Martin of Tours, a fourth-century bishop revered across medieval Europe, was instrumental in spreading the masculine form throughout the Western world, and the feminine forms followed naturally.
