Meera

Meera is a feminine name of Sanskrit origin, derived from the root meaning "sea" or "ocean," though it is also interpreted as meaning "prosperous" or "wealthy." It is most widely recognized through Mirabai, the sixteenth-century Rajput princess and poet-saint whose devotional hymns to the god Krishna made her one of the most celebrated figures in the bhakti tradition of Hinduism. The name is used across several South Asian languages including Hindi, Marathi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada. Mira and Meerabai are closely related forms.
