Mindy

Mindy is an English diminutive form of Melinda, itself an 18th-century coinage that combines the prefix Mel-, drawn from names such as Melissa or Melanie (ultimately from Greek meli, meaning honey), with the popular suffix -linda. It gained widespread use as an independent given name in the United States during the mid-20th century, boosted in part by the television series Mork and Mindy, which aired from 1978 to 1982.
