Nia

Nia has two distinct origins. In Welsh tradition it is a form of Niamh, derived from an Old Irish word meaning bright or radiant, and it appears in medieval Celtic legend as the name of a fairy queen. In Swahili, nia means purpose, and the name was adopted into African American culture as one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa. The English and Georgian uses largely reflect these same influences.
