Nicolette

Nicolette is a French feminine diminutive of Nicole, which itself derives from the Greek name Nikolaos, composed of the elements nikē, meaning victory, and laos, meaning people. The name gained wide medieval recognition through the Old French romance Aucassin et Nicolette, a twelfth or thirteenth-century tale in which Nicolette is the heroine. Closely related forms include Nicoletta in Italian and the shorter Nicole, which remains one of the most widely used cognates across European languages.
