Oleksandra

Oleksandra is the Ukrainian feminine form of Alexander, ultimately derived from the ancient Greek name Alexandros, composed of the elements alexein, meaning to defend, and aner, meaning man, thus carrying the sense of defender of men. It entered Ukrainian through the Greek Alexandros and its Latin adaptation Alexandra, following the spread of the name across Europe in the wake of Alexander the Great's historical prominence.
