Osku is a Finnish given name that developed as a familiar, hypocoristic form of Oskari, itself the Finnish adaptation of Oscar. Oscar traces back to Old Norse elements, commonly interpreted as combining ás, meaning god, with geirr, meaning spear, though an Old English derivation from os and gar carrying similar meanings has also been proposed.
