Rosalie

Rosalie is a French and German elaboration of Rosa, itself derived from Latin rosa, meaning rose, the flowering plant long associated with beauty and love. The name may also carry influence from the Latin festival Rosalia, an ancient Roman ceremony in which roses were offered to the dead. It gained wider use across Europe partly through Saint Rosalia, a twelfth-century Sicilian hermit venerated as the patron of Palermo. Related forms include Rosa, Rosalia, Rosalie, and Roselyn.
