Sadie

Sadie is an English pet form of Sarah, which derives from the Hebrew name Sara, meaning princess or noblewoman. It developed as a diminutive in the same way that Sally arose from the same source, through a pattern of rhyming substitution common in medieval English nicknaming. Though long used as an independent given name, Sadie retains its association with Sarah and enjoyed particular popularity in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
