Sasho

Sasho is a South Slavic diminutive form used chiefly in Bulgarian and Macedonian, derived as a familiar short form of Alexander, which itself traces back through Latin and Greek Alexandros to the elements alexein, meaning to defend, and aner, meaning man. The name has long been a popular everyday alternative to the fuller Alexander across Bulgaria and North Macedonia. Related forms include Sasha, widely used in Russian and other Slavic languages, as well as Aleksandar and its many regional variants.
