Seraphina

Seraphina is a Latinate feminine form derived from the Hebrew root saraph, meaning burning ones, which refers to the six-winged celestial beings described in the Book of Isaiah. The name entered European use through Late Latin as a feminine elaboration of Seraphinus, and was borne by a thirteenth-century Italian saint, Seraphina of San Gimignano, which helped establish it as a given name in Catholic regions. It remains uncommon but has seen periodic revivals in English and German-speaking countries, partly through its association with the angelic and the ethereal. Related forms include Serafina, Serafine, and the masculine Seraphino.
