Shayla is an English name that arose in the twentieth century, most likely as a feminine elaboration of Shay or an anglicized variant of the Irish name Síle, itself the Irish form of Cecilia, which derives from the Latin family name Caecilius, possibly connected to the Latin word caecus, meaning blind.
