Sheamus

Sheamus is an Irish form of James, itself derived from the Late Latin Iacomus, an altered form of Iacobus, which traces back to the Greek Iakobos and ultimately to the Hebrew name Yaakov, traditionally interpreted as meaning heel or supplanter. The name entered Ireland through the Latin ecclesiastical form and was adapted to Irish phonology as Séamus, of which Sheamus is an anglicized spelling. It shares its roots with the widely used cognates James, Jamie, Diego, Iago, Hamish, and Seamus.
