Siem

Siem is a Dutch and Frisian short form of Simon, which derives from the Hebrew name Shim'on, meaning "he has heard" or "God has heard." The Hebrew name appears in the Old Testament as one of the twelve sons of Jacob, giving Simon and its variants wide currency across European languages through biblical tradition. Siem remains chiefly a given name in the Netherlands and Frisian-speaking regions of northern Germany. Related forms include Sim, Simeon, and the widely used Simon.
