Sjef

Sjef is a Dutch pet form of Jozef, the Dutch rendering of the Hebrew name Yosef, meaning he will add or God will increase, referring to divine blessing. The name gained widespread use in the Catholic southern Netherlands and Belgium, particularly in the provinces of Noord-Brabant and Limburg, where Sjef became a familiar and affectionate everyday form.
