Sofie

Sofie is a Germanic and Scandinavian form of Sophia, derived from the ancient Greek word sophia, meaning wisdom. The name gained widespread use across Europe through early Christian veneration of Saint Sophia and the philosophical ideal of divine wisdom. It became especially popular in Denmark, Norway, Germany, and the Netherlands as a vernacular adaptation of the Latinate Sophia. Closely related forms include Sophie, Sofia, and Zofia.
