Stace is an English name derived from the medieval short form of Eustace, which traces back through Old French to the Latin Eustachius and ultimately the Greek Eustakhios, meaning good grapes or fruitful. It was used as both a masculine and feminine diminutive in the Middle Ages, later becoming more commonly associated with girls as a clipped form of Anastasia, a Greek name meaning resurrection.
