Tara

Tara derives from the Sanskrit root meaning star, and in Hindu and Buddhist tradition it is the name of a goddess associated with guidance, compassion, and liberation; in Buddhism, Tara is a bodhisattva who embodies mercy and is widely venerated across Tibet, Nepal, and Southeast Asia. The name also appears in Irish legend as Teamhair, the name of a sacred hill in County Meath that served as the seat of the High Kings of Ireland, which was anglicized as Tara and popularized in the English-speaking world through its use in Margaret Mitchell's 1936 novel Gone with the Wind.
