feminine · Dutch origin
Teuna is a Dutch feminine given name functioning as a contracted pet form of Thomasina or, more directly, as a diminutive derived from the Dutch feminine name Teunis, itself a vernacular form of Antonius, the Latin family name from which Anton and Antonia descend. The root of Antonius is of uncertain origin, possibly Etruscan, though it was borne by the prominent Roman general Mark Antony and later spread widely through the Christian world via Saint Anthony of Padua. Teuna remains largely regional within the Netherlands and is closely related to the forms Antonia, Tonia, and Teunis.
