Valeriu

Valeriu is a Romanian form of the Latin name Valerius, derived from the Roman family name rooted in the Latin word valere, meaning to be strong or to be healthy. The Valerii were one of the oldest and most prominent patrician clans of ancient Rome, and the name was borne by numerous Roman consuls and statesmen. Valeriu is the standard Romanian masculine rendering of this classical heritage, closely related to the Italian Valerio, the Spanish and Portuguese Valerio, and the French Valéry.
