Zofia

Zofia is the Polish form of Sophia, ultimately derived from the ancient Greek word sophia, meaning wisdom. The name spread widely through the Christian world due to the veneration of Saint Sophia, a legendary martyr, and the famous Hagia Sophia basilica in Constantinople. Zofia has been borne by several Polish noblewomen and queens throughout history, cementing its long presence in Polish culture. The Slovak equivalent is Žofia, and other European cognates include Sofia, Sofía, and Sofie.
