Angelina

Angelina is a Latinate diminutive of Angela, itself derived from the Latin angelus, which in turn comes from the Greek angelos, meaning messenger or messenger of God. The name spread widely through Catholic and Orthodox Christian cultures as a devotional reference to angels. It gained broad international recognition in modern times partly through the Italian saint Angelina of Marsciano, a 15th-century Franciscan, as well as through popular culture and celebrity.
