Aubert is a French given name derived from the Germanic name Adalbert, composed of the elements adal, meaning noble, and beraht, meaning bright or famous. The name was borne by several early medieval saints, most notably Saint Aubert of Avranches, the eighth-century bishop traditionally credited with founding the abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel.
