Benji

Benji is an English diminutive of Benjamin, which derives from the Hebrew name Binyamin, meaning son of the right hand or son of the south. In the Hebrew Bible, Benjamin is the youngest son of the patriarch Jacob and Rachel, making the name deeply rooted in Jewish and Christian tradition. Benji gained widespread independent use in the English-speaking world during the twentieth century, partly boosted by the popular 1974 film of the same name featuring a stray dog as its hero.
