Catrin

Catrin is the Welsh form of Katherine, ultimately derived from the Greek name Aikaterine, whose root meaning remains uncertain but has long been associated by folk etymology with the Greek word katharos, meaning pure. The name has been used in Wales for centuries and was borne by several figures in Welsh history and literature, most famously serving as the subject of a celebrated poem by the Welsh poet T. H. Parry-Williams. It also functions as a German short form of Katharina.
