Chrissie

Chrissie is an English diminutive form of Christina or Christine, both of which ultimately derive from the Latin Christianus, meaning follower of Christ, itself rooted in the Greek Christos, meaning anointed one. The name has been in informal use in English-speaking countries as an affectionate short form since at least the nineteenth century. It gained broader cultural visibility in the twentieth century, notably through British rock musician Chrissie Hynde, lead singer of The Pretenders. Related forms include Chris, Chrissy, and Krissy.
