Ciera

Ciera is a modern English name that arose as a phonetic spelling of Sierra, itself borrowed from the Spanish word for mountain range, ultimately derived from Latin serra, meaning saw, in reference to jagged peaks. The name gained popularity in the United States during the late twentieth century, partly influenced by the similarly sounding Irish name Ciara, which carries an entirely different meaning of dark or black. Sierra and Ciara are the most closely associated variants.
