Cierra

Cierra is an English variant of Sierra, taken from the Spanish word for a jagged mountain range, itself derived from the Latin serra, meaning saw or saw-toothed tool, in reference to the serrated appearance of mountain peaks. The name gained popularity in the United States during the late twentieth century alongside Sierra, partly influenced by the rugged natural imagery of the American West. Variant spellings include Sierra, Siera, and Syerra.
