Cyndi

Cyndi is an English pet form of Cynthia, which derives from the Greek Kynthia, an epithet of the goddess Artemis meaning she of Mount Kynthos, referring to her mythological birthplace on the island of Delos. The name gained widespread use in the English-speaking world during the twentieth century, partly through cultural figures such as American singer Cyndi Lauper. Related forms include Cindy, Sindy, and the fuller name Cynthia.
