Elizabet

Elizabet is a Bulgarian and Hungarian form of Elizabeth, ultimately derived from the Hebrew name Elisheba, composed of the elements el, meaning God, and sheva, meaning oath or perhaps seven. The name was borne by the biblical figure Elisheba, wife of Aaron, and later popularized throughout Europe by Saint Elizabeth of Hungary in the thirteenth century. Closely related forms include Elizabeta, Elisabeta, Erzsébet, and the widely used English Elizabeth.
