Eliza

Eliza is a short form of Elizabeth, which derives from the Hebrew name Elisheba, composed of the elements meaning God and oath or abundance. The name gained widespread independent use in English-speaking countries from the eighteenth century onward, famously borne by Eliza Doolittle, the fictional protagonist of George Bernard Shaw's 1912 play Pygmalion. It also functions as a standalone given name in Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Hungarian, and Georgian traditions, as well as in the Latvian form Elīza.
