Elsebeth

Elsebeth is a Danish form of Elizabeth, ultimately derived from the Hebrew name Elisheba, composed of the elements el, meaning God, and sheva, meaning oath or perhaps seven. The name was borne by the biblical wife of Aaron and was spread throughout Europe largely through veneration of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary in the thirteenth century. Closely related forms include Elisabeth, Elsbeth, and Elspeth.
