Gabriel

From the Hebrew name Gavri'el, meaning God is my strong man or man of God, formed from the elements gibbor, meaning strong or hero, and El, meaning God. In the Hebrew Bible and later Christian and Islamic tradition, Gabriel is an archangel who serves as a divine messenger, most notably announcing the births of John the Baptist and Jesus in the New Testament and dictating the Quran to Muhammad in Islamic belief. The name has spread widely across European languages through biblical influence, appearing as Gábriel in Hungarian, Gabríel in Icelandic, and Gabriël in Dutch.
