Hendrick

Hendrick is a Dutch archaic form of the Germanic name Heinrich, composed of the elements haim, meaning home, and ric, meaning power or ruler, giving the overall sense of ruler of the home or lord of the estate. It was widely used across the Low Countries during the medieval and early modern periods, borne by numerous Dutch and Flemish painters, noblemen, and merchants. The name is closely related to Hendrik, Henrick, and Heinrich, as well as the Anglicized forms Henry and Harry.
