Hendrick

Hendrick is a Dutch and Low German form of the Germanic name Heinrich, composed of the elements haim, meaning home, and ric, meaning power or ruler, giving the overall sense of ruler of the home or lord of the estate. The name was widely used across the Low Countries during the medieval and early modern periods, carried by numerous Dutch noblemen and artists, most famously the painter Hendrick Avercamp. It is closely related to the English Henry, the German Heinrich, the Scandinavian Henrik, and the Latinized Henricus.
