Iefan

Iefan is a Welsh form of John, ultimately derived from the Hebrew name Yochanan, meaning God is gracious. It developed as a distinctly Welsh adaptation of the Latin Iohannes, following the sound changes characteristic of the Welsh language. The name is rare in modern use but belongs to the same family of forms that includes the more common Welsh variants Ifan and Ieuan, as well as the anglicized Evan.
