Keira

Keira is an anglicized feminine form of the Irish name Ciara, derived from the Old Irish word ciar, meaning dark or black, and typically understood to refer to a dark complexion or dark hair. The name gained considerable popularity in English-speaking countries in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, boosted in part by British actress Keira Knightley. It exists alongside the more traditional spellings Kira and Ciara, all sharing the same Gaelic root.
