Kynthia

Kynthia is a Greek name derived from Kynthos, the name of a mountain on the island of Delos in ancient Greece. In Greek mythology, the mountain was the birthplace of the twin deities Artemis and Apollo, and Kynthia served as an epithet for Artemis, meaning essentially she of Mount Kynthos. The Latinized form Cynthia was later used by Roman poets such as Propertius as a pseudonym for a beloved woman, and the name subsequently passed into wide use in the English-speaking world.
