Magalie is a French feminine given name, most likely a variant of Magali, itself an Occitan form of Margaret, which derives from the Greek margarites meaning pearl. The name gained widespread familiarity in France partly through Frédéric Mistral's 1859 Occitan epic poem Mirèio, which features the character Magali.
