Majken

Majken is a Scandinavian diminutive form of Maj, itself a Swedish and Danish adaptation of the Latin name Maria, which derives from the Hebrew Miriam, of uncertain but possibly meaning "beloved," "wished-for child," or "drop of the sea." The name developed as an affectionate pet form widely used in Sweden and Denmark throughout the twentieth century. It shares its ultimate roots with cognates such as Maja, Maiken, and the broader family of Maria-derived names across European languages.
