Maliyah

Maliyah is an English spelling variant of Malia, itself a Hawaiian and Swahili adaptation of Mary, which derives from the Hebrew Miryam, a name of debated meaning with proposed roots including "beloved," "bitter," or "wished-for child." The name gained wider use in the United States in the early twenty-first century, partly through association with Malia Obama, daughter of President Barack Obama.
