Malia

Malia is the Hawaiian form of Maria, itself derived from the Hebrew name Miryam, whose meaning remains debated but is often associated with roots meaning beloved, sea of bitterness, or drop of the sea. The name has been used in Hawaii for generations and gained broader international recognition in part through Malia Obama, daughter of U.S. President Barack Obama.
