Nikola is a South and West Slavic form of Nicholas, ultimately derived from the ancient Greek name Nikolaos, composed of the elements nike, meaning victory, and laos, meaning people. It is widely used as a masculine name across Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, and Macedonia, as well as Czech and Slovak traditions, and has also been adopted in Basque.
