Phoibe

Phoibe is the ancient Greek feminine form of Phoibos, derived from the Greek root phoibos meaning bright or pure. In Greek mythology, Phoibe was a Titaness associated with the moon and with the oracle at Delphi, which she later passed on to her grandson Apollo. The name also appears in the New Testament, borne by a deaconess of the early Christian church mentioned by Paul in his letter to the Romans. The Latinized form Phoebe became the dominant spelling in later European use and remains the most common modern variant.
