Siemen

Siemen is a Dutch and Frisian form of Simon, which traces back through Latin and Greek Symeon to the Hebrew name Shim'on, derived from the root shama, meaning to hear or to listen. The name has long been common in the Low Countries and Frisian coastal regions, carried by generations of ordinary bearers as well as regional figures in Dutch history. Related forms include Simen in Norwegian, Simo in Finnish and various South Slavic languages, and the widely used international form Simon.
