Silke

Silke is a Low German and Dutch diminutive of Cäcilie or Cecilia, itself derived from the Latin Caecilia, the feminine form of the old Roman family name Caecilius, which is thought to stem from the Latin caecus, meaning blind. The name gained popularity in German-speaking and Dutch-speaking regions as an affectionate short form, carrying the same association with Saint Cecilia, the early Christian martyr venerated as the patron saint of musicians. Silke is closely related to the Scandinavian variant Silje, as well as to the broader family of Cecilia cognates found across European languages, including Cécile and Sheila.
