Steven

Steven is an English and Dutch form of Stephen, derived from the Greek name Stephanos, meaning crown or wreath, from the word stephein, to encircle or wring. The name was borne by Saint Stephen, considered the first Christian martyr, which helped spread it widely throughout medieval Europe. Steven became particularly common in English-speaking countries during the twentieth century, often used interchangeably with Stephen. Closely related forms include Stefan, Esteban, Stefano, and Etienne.
